Send in your best photos from this year's summer school, and participate in this year's Photo Competition!
There will be 3 categories/ themes in this competition:
- People
- Student life
- Norwegian experiences
A winner will be selected in each category. The jury will decide which photos that are relevant for each category, so you don't have to decide the category yourself.
The criteria for the winners are: technical quality, composition, creativity, and the story it tells. One tip: Keep your images simple and most of all, intentional.
The deadline for sending in photos is: July 21 at 11 pm.
The winners will receive a symbolic reward at the Farewell Gathering.
The rules for the Photo Competition:
- Competitors must be students at ISS summer 2025.
- You can only send in photos that you have taken yourself during your student period at ISS summer 2025.
- Obtain consent from individuals in the photos: You need to ask permission from the people who are in focus on the photos. Read more.
- Filetype and format: jpg file (JPEG/ jpg) and ordinary format (for example aspect ratio 3:2 or 2:3 or 5:4 or 4:5 or 4:3 or 3:4 or 5:7 or 7:5 or 16:9 or 9:16).
- Size: 0,5 MB- 12 MB
- No photos generated with artificial intelligence (AI) are allowed.
- Ethical guidelines: Respect privacy, avoid exploitation of subjects and treat photo subjects with respect and dignity.
- When sending in photos, the contestants permit ISS to use their photos for marketing and on the UiO and ISS social media accounts.
- Please do not send any pictures taken i panorama mode or with a frame.

- It is the responsibility of the entrants to acquaint themselves with the contest rules before submitting photos. All entries not complying with the contest rules will be excluded from the contest.
You can be disqualified from the competition if you break the competition rules concerning AI, ethical guidelines, or manipulation of photos.
By sending in photos to the Photo Competition, you permit ISS to use the photos for marketing and on the UiO and ISS social media accounts.
Each student can send in maximum 8 photos.
How to send in photos to the competition?
Upload photos on this platform: link will be published by June 7.
Remember: You need to send in the photos in jpg (jpeg) format. Name the file with your name, and the title of the photo. If you do not have a title, make a number on each file. Example: ryan.jones_Vigelandspark.jpg
The jury will consist of 3-4 members of the Social Committee for Media.
Tag ISS and share your photos on SoMe
Throughout the summer weeks, students are also encouraged to tag unioslo_iss on photo posts on their own Instagram accounts, and also to invite unioslo_iss (ISS Instagram) to "collaborate" on their posts. If you prefer Facebook, feel free to tag ISS: @International Summer School at UIO
OBS: this sharing is NOT the same as participating in the photo competition. Please be considerate to your fellow students, and post only the photos when you have asked fellow students on the photos have agreed to having the photos published on SoMe (social media).
