Dear colleagues,
You have all received an email invitation to the faculty's joint inspiration meeting about the values of diversity, which will take place on Monday, 19th May, in the large auditorium at Georg Sverdrup's House on Blindern from 2 to 4 PM. This event is part of BALANCE+, the Research Council of Norway's programme aimed at promoting gender balance, diversity, and inclusion in Norwegian research. You'll find more details in this newsletter from our Vice-Dean, Eli Feiring, and you can read more about the event and register here. I hope many of you can make time to attend!
Gathering for new academic staff
Next week, the faculty will once again host a gathering for new professors and associate professors, providing an opportunity to meet faculty leaders and other colleagues. We've received great feedback on these events, and we're looking forward to connecting with our new team members.
Strong applicant numbers for the faculty of medicine
It's also a sure sign of spring when we gain access to the applicant numbers from Samordna opptak. This year, we are pleased to see very strong applicant numbers for the faculty's programmes.
For the first time, it will now be possible to apply for admission to the decentralised UiO campus in Innlandet, which we are actively developing after being granted 15 study places for this campus in last year’s state budget. Based on the number of applicants per study place, this has become the most popular study programme for Samordna opptak in 2025, which bodes very well for this initiative. We are steadily working towards developing all our study programmes in the best possible way. You can read more about this year’s admissions on our study pages.
Positive evaluations in EVALMEDHELSE
There is also good news regarding research at the faculty. Our units have received consistently excellent feedback in the Research Council’s report concerning the national subject evaluation of medicine and health sciences, EVALMEDHELSE 2023–2024.
The research groups from Klinmed were evaluated alongside OUS and Ahus, while IMB, Helsam, and NCMBM received their own feedback.
The comments will now be considered within the individual units, focusing on both preservation and improvement points. The faculty congratulates and thanks everyone for their tremendous efforts dedicated to the evaluation process and for all the impactful and vital research being conducted.
With this, I wish you all a great early May and hope to see you at some of the many events planned for the upcoming spring.
Best regards,
Hanne
