Environmental Profile

  • Solar panels on the roof
  • Heating and cooling tanks in the building to utilise excess heat/cold for heating/cooling the premises
  • Central location reduces transport-related carbon footprint
  • Upgrading the free area around the building and reopening Gaustadbekken to be planned and developed according to urban ecological principles

Outdoor Areas

A park will be established where the Gaustabekken will be a central element. It will run through a forest-like area and form small pools. The park will also feature 4-5 sculptures.

Art

Eight artists will create works for the building, all related to life science. These artists are Camille Henrot, Jess Johnson, Ann Lislegaard, Michael Dean, Jan Freuchen, Toril Johannessen, and Lea Porsager. Additionally, Ane Graff has been invited for a direct commission.
