Moving process UiO
The moving period is planned to last from the second quarter of 2026 to the first quarter of 2027. According to the plan, the move-in will occur in three phases, as follows:
- Phase 1: Areas 4 – 6. April – June 2026 (07.04.2026 – 30.06.2026)
- Phase 2: Areas 7 – 8. August – October 2026 (03.08.2026 – 31.10.2026)
- Phase 3: Areas 1 – 3. January – March 2027 (05.01.2027 – 25.02.2027)
Each phase takes approximately three months and is subdivided into smaller moves.
Testing before moving
The move into the Life Sciences Building begins in the second quarter of 2026. Until then, the building will be tested by its users to allow necessary adjustments.

Downtime when moving
The move into specific lab areas will take around 1-2 weeks, but the scale will vary. Moving office spaces will take 1-4 days.
Downtime refers to packing, moving, and unpacking. Downtime ends when the affected area is operational.
There will be differences in downtime for the different groups moving in. Several factors may influence this. Some groups may experience only a few days of downtime, but areas with more advanced scientific equipment may face longer downtimes, especially when external vendor assistance is needed.
Temporary occupancy approval
With temporary occupancy approval, we have access to the building and can begin the move-in process. Temporary occupancy approval is required before any move phases start.
Moving advanced equipment will follow the moving plan, with exceptions related to functionality and operational testing. Newly purchased equipment by the project will be delivered directly to the building. D
eviations from the moving plan must be clarified with the Reception Project and Statsbygg.
A detailed moving plan will be provided in 2025.
There may be some construction noise during the moving period.
